Amarra is more than just software. Amarra software integrates with the Amarra Model 4 hardware interface to create a state-of-the-art music playback system. The Amarra Model Four Interface is the ultimate FireWire®–based audio interface providing an array of functions that allow you to listen to high-definition digital audio with unprecedented ultrafidelity. The Model 4 integrates with the Amarra software and uses a proprietary FireWire interface developed by Sonic Studios. The hardware allows a full eight channels in and out of a Macintosh, and supports resolutions of up to 24 bits/ 192 Khz. The hardware also includes the ability to mix all channels together, as well as Sonic Studio's hardware-based Sonic EQ.
Amarra Model 4 Hardware EQ Sonic EQ is legendary for its quality and is used to master many of the audiophile CDs you now own. Sonic's EQ allows Amarra to become a multi-use product. It can be used for speaker and room correction, to make custom subwoofer outputs, and to design digital crossovers for speakers with up to four separate drivers. Amarra's multichannel capabilities allow for multi-zone outputs for whole-home audio, and in the future multichannel audio. Click here to view a typical two way crossover setup made in Sonic EQ. The Model 4's signal path is 48 bits throughout the hardware, so processing today's signal sources is no problem. The Model 4 hardware is capable of DSD recording and playback with future software upgrades. The proprietary hardware processing is capable of 80 bits of resolution, ensuring enough processing power for speaker EQ, room EQ, and 8 channels of digital crossovers. Amarra Model 4: $6,495 USD.
